North Berwick & District Round Table members have recently completed a climbing 1-2-3 with ascents of the some of the region’s tallest structures:
- The Forth Rail Bridge (101m tall)
- The Air Traffic Control Tower at Edinburgh Airport (57m tall)
- The Edinburgh International Climbing Arena at Ratho (35m tall)
The group – which has recently welcomed a number of new members, both from within North Berwick as far afield as Haddington –
has also had some great social events over the past few weeks, including:
- Boating from North Berwick to Elie (From North Berwick Harbour, June)
- Cochrane Cup (Golf challenge at Craigielaw, June)
- Artemis 100 cycling challenge (Loch Tay area, July)
Ian Whelan, newly elected Chairman of North Berwick Round Table, said:
“These recent gatherings were organised as part of our Round Table’s ongoing programme of social events. But you could say we’ve been taking our events to new heights lately! Round Table is all about mixing plenty of social activity with a touch of community support.”
On the community front, North Berwick Round Table has donated funds totalling more than £7,000 since January 2008 to numerous good causes in the region, including:
- Eddington Hospital, North Berwick (£2,000)
- Anti-Bullying East Lothian (£500)
- North Berwick Youth Forum (£750)
Later in August, the group holds its annual Lads & Dads Weekend at Loch Tay, an outdoor activity weekend. Yes, girls take part too!
